On the Email Users page, click the mailbox row to open its detail panel. The Display Name field is editable — change it and save. Takes effect on the next sent email. The email address itself (local part @ domain) can't be renamed — if you need to change it, delete this mailbox and create a new one with the new address.
When to rename vs. delete-and-recreate
Rename Display Name — quick, safe, no sending disruption. Do this if you want to change how the sender appears.
Delete and recreate — needed when the email address itself needs to change (e.g., you want sam.chen@ instead of samc@). Consequences:
- Old credentials stop working immediately.
- Any sending tool using the old mailbox needs updated credentials.
- Warming (if enabled) starts fresh on the new mailbox.
- Old inbox messages are deleted along with the mailbox.
What's next
Step-by-step
-
1. Open the mailbox
Click the row in the Email Users list.
-
2. Edit Display Name
The Display Name field is at the top of the detail panel. Edit and save.
-
3. Rotate password (optional)
Also on the detail panel — click Reveal to see the current password, or Rotate to generate a new one. If you rotate, remember to update any sending tool that has the old password.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I rename the email address?
The local part is baked into IMAP/SMTP authentication and the mailbox's identity with email providers. Renaming would break every sending tool with the old credentials. Delete and recreate is safer.
Does changing display name affect deliverability?
Not directly. Filters key on the email address and sender reputation. But recipients see the display name — a more human name in From helps open rates.
How do I rotate the password?
Mailbox detail panel → Rotate Password button. Winnr generates a new one and shows it once. Update any sending tools using the mailbox.
