Mailscale is no longer a self-serve mailbox provider. As of October 2026, mailscale.ai sells "Mailscale Agentic", a done-for-you AI outbound service (leads, AI copy, pre-warmed mailboxes, reply handling) priced on a sales call, and its login is marked for previous customers only. If you want that, Mailscale is still an option. If you want mailboxes you connect to your own sequencer, you need an alternative: Winnr is $69/mo for 50 mailboxes, $189 for 200 and $989 for 1,000, month to month.
This page used to compare Winnr's and Mailscale's mailbox plans. That comparison no longer makes sense, because Mailscale changed what it sells. Below: what Mailscale offers now, who it suits, and what to use instead if you were a Mailscale mailbox customer or were considering it for infrastructure.
What changed at Mailscale
- New product. The homepage now reads "Welcome to the new Agentic Mailscale!" and describes "an AI outbound system that books qualified meetings for you on autopilot". It finds leads from a database Mailscale puts at 400+ million B2B contacts, writes copy with an AI copywriter, sends from pre-warmed outreach domains, and replies to interested prospects with an AI agent.
- Previous customers are pointed to a separate login ("Login (previous customers only)").
- No public pricing. Mailscale's FAQ says pricing "is tailored rather than one-size-fits-all" and is built on a call. It starts with a short pilot and says there is no long-term lock-in.
- Domains and mailboxes are included and configured for you; you do not bring a sequencer.
- Mailscale's FAQ says every plan includes a 90% inbox-placement guarantee, with a conditional ROI guarantee on some plans.
Teams that want outbound run for them end to end, from list building to booked meetings, and would rather not operate a sequencer, buy domains or manage warm-up. That is a different purchase from email infrastructure, closer to hiring an agency or an AI SDR.
Mailscale alternatives for self-serve mailboxes
